The Pride Pursuit XL is a full-size mobility scooter designed for users who want serious outdoor capability, long driving range and a comfortable ride.

What we like most about the Pursuit XL is how substantial it feels.
The combination of full suspension, large pneumatic tires and a powerful drivetrain makes much more sense for longer outdoor trips than trying to push a smaller scooter beyond what it was designed to do.
For neighbourhood driving, parks, cottage properties, longer sidewalks and uneven outdoor surfaces, we think the Pursuit XL is much better suited than a compact travel scooter.
It is also available with several battery sizes, allowing the scooter to be configured around the amount of range the user actually needs.
Who We Think It Is Best For
We think the Pursuit XL is best suited for someone who uses their scooter as an important part of their everyday mobility.
It makes sense for neighbourhood driving, larger properties, retirement communities, paved trails, outdoor events and longer-distance outings.
The 400 lb weight capacity and full-size seating also make it a good option for someone who wants a more substantial scooter underneath them.
This is not the model we would choose primarily for tight indoor environments or frequent vehicle loading.
What We Like Most
The suspension and tires are the biggest strengths for us.
The Pursuit XL uses front and rear suspension along with 13-inch pneumatic tires, helping absorb bumps and uneven surfaces much better than smaller scooters with solid tires.
We also like the reclining high-back seat with headrest and sliders.
For someone spending longer periods of time on their scooter, we think ride quality and seating comfort become just as important as speed or range.
The delta tiller with wraparound handles is another useful feature, giving the driver several comfortable hand positions.
Range & Battery Options
The Pursuit XL can be configured with 75Ah, 100Ah or 110Ah batteries.
Pride Canada lists rated ranges of approximately 35 km with the smaller battery option, up to approximately 48 km with 100Ah batteries and up to approximately 51 km with 110Ah batteries.
For someone who travels long distances regularly, the larger battery options can be a major advantage.
Actual range will vary depending on user weight, terrain, hills, tire pressure, temperature, battery condition and driving habits.
Outdoor Performance
This is where we think the Pursuit XL really makes sense.
The scooter has approximately 5.25 inches of ground clearance at the mid-frame, full suspension and large pneumatic tires.
That gives it much more capability over grass, gravel, uneven pathways and rougher pavement than a traditional travel scooter.
It also has a hydraulic hand brake in addition to regenerative and electromechanical braking.
For someone travelling outdoors at higher speeds, we like having that additional braking control.
Things We Would Consider Before Buying
The Pursuit XL is a large and heavy scooter.
It weighs well over 250 lb before batteries, so we would not consider it conventionally portable.
If you need to transport it regularly, we would normally recommend an appropriate vehicle lift, carrier, trailer or accessible vehicle rather than planning to lift it into a trunk.
The pneumatic tires also require more maintenance than solid tires. Tire pressure needs to be maintained and punctures are possible.
Those are not necessarily negatives — they are simply the trade-offs that come with choosing a scooter designed around ride quality and outdoor performance.
Is the Pride Pursuit XL Worth It?
For someone who genuinely needs a full-size outdoor scooter, we think the Pursuit XL remains a very strong option.
The combination of full suspension, large pneumatic tires, long-range battery options, comfortable high-back seating and a powerful drivetrain makes it considerably more capable than a typical everyday scooter.
If portability and tight indoor maneuverability are your priorities, we would choose something smaller.
