What immediately stands out to us is the speed.
At up to approximately 22.5 km/h, the 3-wheel Raptor 2 is one of the fastest scooters in Pride's lineup.
That speed makes much more sense for longer neighbourhood trips, retirement communities and travelling between nearby destinations than it would on a small travel scooter.
We also like that Pride combines that performance with front and rear suspension, pneumatic tires and a substantial high-back seat.
For someone spending a lot of time on their scooter, those comfort features matter.
Who We Think It Is Best For
We think the Raptor 2 works best for someone who regularly travels outdoors and wants to cover longer distances efficiently.
It is particularly suited for neighbourhood use, retirement communities, condo communities, paved pathways, sidewalks and other hard-packed outdoor surfaces.
The 3-wheel design also gives it a much tighter turning radius than the 4-wheel Raptor 2.
At approximately 60 inches, it is still a large scooter, but it is considerably easier to maneuver than many similarly sized four-wheel performance scooters.
What We Like Most
The combination of speed, range and comfort is what makes the Raptor 2 stand out to us.
The large pneumatic tires and full suspension help smooth out uneven pavement, while the 20" x 18" limited-recline memory-foam seat provides considerably more support than a typical travel-scooter seat.
You also get a full LED lighting package, directional signals, rearview mirrors and a hand brake with regenerative braking.
These features make sense on a scooter that is capable of travelling significantly faster and farther than a standard mobility scooter.
Range & Battery
The Baja Raptor 2 uses two 75Ah batteries.
Pride rates the 3-wheel model for up to approximately 30.5 km of range at its 400 lb maximum capacity and up to approximately 49.5 km under lighter-load testing conditions.
That is a considerable amount of range for someone using their scooter around their community.
Actual driving range will vary depending on user weight, speed, hills, terrain, tire pressure, temperature and battery condition.
3-Wheel or 4-Wheel?
For someone considering a Raptor 2, this is an important decision.
The 3-wheel model has a much tighter turning radius and a slightly higher maximum speed than the 4-wheel version.
The 4-wheel model gives you a wider front footprint that some users may prefer, particularly when travelling outdoors.
We would not choose solely from a specification sheet. If possible, we recommend trying both styles and seeing which one feels more natural and comfortable to drive.
Things We Would Consider Before Buying
The Raptor 2 is large, fast and heavy.
This is not a scooter we would consider conventionally portable, and transporting it regularly will usually require an appropriate vehicle lift, carrier, trailer or accessible vehicle.
Its pneumatic tires also provide a more comfortable ride but require more maintenance than solid tires. Tire pressure needs to be maintained and punctures are possible.
We would also make sure the user is comfortable controlling a scooter capable of travelling more than 20 km/h.
More speed can be very useful, but only when it matches the user's environment and driving ability.
Is the Pride Baja Raptor 2 Worth It?
For someone who wants a fast, long-range outdoor scooter, we think the Baja Raptor 2 is a very compelling option.
The combination of a 400 lb capacity, high speed, long driving range, suspension, pneumatic tires and comfortable seating gives it a completely different purpose from a small travel scooter.
If most of your use is indoors or you need to frequently load your scooter into a regular vehicle, we would look at something smaller.
