Our Thoughts on the Pursuit ES
What we like most about the Pursuit ES is how well it balances comfort and performance.
The front and rear suspension, pneumatic tires and larger high-back seat make it much better suited to longer outdoor trips than a compact travel scooter.
You also get a powerful drivetrain with a 140-amp controller and 24-volt four-pole motor, giving the scooter a more substantial feel when climbing inclines or travelling over outdoor surfaces.
For someone who uses their scooter as part of their everyday mobility rather than only for occasional shopping trips, we think those features matter.
Who We Think It Is Best For
We think the Pursuit ES is best suited for neighbourhood driving, retirement communities, larger properties, paved pathways, shopping centres and longer outdoor outings.
The 350 lb weight capacity and 18.5" x 18.5" seat make it a good option for many users who want more space and support than a travel scooter provides.
Its approximately 69-inch turning radius means it requires more room than a compact scooter, so we would not choose it primarily for very tight apartments or small indoor environments.
What We Like Most
The ride quality is probably the biggest advantage for us.
The Pursuit ES combines full suspension with large 13-inch pneumatic tires, which helps absorb bumps and uneven pavement better than a scooter using small solid tires.
We also like the reclining high-back seat with a seat slider, swivel function, adjustable headrest and adjustable armrests.
For someone spending longer periods of time on their scooter, we think seating and suspension are just as important as speed and range.
10 km/h or 15 km/h Version
Pride Canada offers the Pursuit ES in both 10 km/h and 15 km/h configurations.
The slower version provides significantly more rated driving range, with Pride listing up to approximately 54 km per charge.
The 15 km/h version is rated for up to approximately 35.4 km per charge.
For someone who regularly travels longer distances, the additional speed of the 15 km/h version may be valuable.
For someone who prioritizes maximum range instead, the 10 km/h configuration may make more sense.
Actual driving range will vary depending on user weight, terrain, hills, tire pressure, temperature, battery condition and driving habits.
Comfort & Outdoor Performance
The Pursuit ES is much more at home outdoors than a traditional travel scooter.
Its larger pneumatic tires, suspension and 3.5 inches of ground clearance make it better suited to uneven sidewalks and outdoor driving.
That said, we would still consider the actual terrain the user expects to encounter.
Pneumatic tires provide a softer ride but require proper inflation and can develop punctures. Pride also lists a flat-free solid tire option for users who prefer reduced maintenance.
Things We Would Consider Before Buying
The Pursuit ES is a large scooter and is not something we would consider conventionally portable.
If you need to transport it regularly, we would usually discuss an appropriate vehicle lift, carrier or accessible vehicle rather than planning to lift it into a trunk.
Its 69-inch turning radius also means it needs considerably more room indoors than a Go-Go or other compact scooter.
For someone whose main priority is portability or tight indoor maneuverability, we would look at something smaller.
For someone prioritizing outdoor comfort, range and stability, the Pursuit ES becomes much more appealing.
Is the Pride Pursuit ES Worth It?
We think the Pursuit ES is a strong choice for someone who wants a comfortable full-size scooter for everyday outdoor mobility.
The combination of full suspension, large pneumatic tires, high-back seating, strong battery capacity and available higher-speed configuration makes it much more capable than a typical travel scooter.
If you need something lightweight or highly maneuverable indoors, we would look elsewhere.
