The 3-wheel configuration also makes a noticeable difference when turning.
For someone using the scooter in stores, retirement residences, elevators or other environments where space can become limited, we think that tighter turning ability is one of the biggest reasons to choose the 3-wheel Maxima.
Who We Think It Is Best For
We think the Maxima 3-Wheel makes the most sense for someone who needs a higher weight capacity, wider seating or simply feels more comfortable on a substantial scooter.
It works well for shopping, appointments, retirement communities, paved outdoor surfaces and general everyday mobility.
Its 49-inch turning radius is also considerably more manageable than many other heavy-duty scooters.
Weight capacity alone does not determine proper fit, however. Seat width, seat depth, transfers, legroom and posture should all be considered before choosing any mobility scooter.
What We Like Most
The seating is probably the biggest strength for us.
The standard 22-inch wide high-back seat provides significantly more room than the 17- or 18-inch seats commonly found on other scooters.
We also like that the seat depth can be adjusted from approximately 18 to 20 inches.

Pride rates the Maxima 3-Wheel for speeds of up to approximately 9.3 km/h and driving range of up to approximately 31.8 km per charge.
It uses a 58Ah battery system, giving it plenty of range for most everyday outings.
Actual driving range will vary depending on user weight, terrain, hills, battery condition, temperature and driving habits.
Things We Would Consider Before Buying
The Maxima does not have suspension.
That means we would not automatically recommend it simply because it is large and heavy-duty.
If someone regularly drives over rough pavement and ride comfort is a major priority, we would also compare it with scooters that include front and rear suspension.
Transportation is another consideration.
The Maxima is a heavy-duty scooter, not a travel scooter. If it needs to be transported regularly, we would normally discuss a vehicle lift, carrier or accessible vehicle rather than expecting someone to lift it into a trunk.

For someone who genuinely needs extra seating room and higher capacity, we think the Maxima 3-Wheel fills an important role.
